  • These cables have been designed for the connection of AC Variable Speed Drives or where a Tinned Flexible EMC screened cable is required. Cables with an Aluminium/Mylar tape and/or Split Intersticial Earth cores plus a tinned copper braid offer optimum screening performance of low and high frequency (RFI) and electromagnetic (EMI) output to avoid reactance with other devices outside the plant. All sizes have copper braids with minimum 85% coverage plus either aluminium / mylar foil tape or split interstitial earth cores to give even greater EMC protection. The foil or the split earth adds to the screening effect of the copper braid by helping contain the lower RFI output frequencies while the braid handles the higher frequencies. The screening should be earthed at both ends using EMC compatible glands that ensure contact around the complete circumference of the cable screening. See GK-EMC Glands and LN-EMC Locknuts.
